Paying for the funeral

Many people worry about paying the funeral account, please don’t. The first thing to remember is that we will pay on your behalf any disbursements (costs) incurred in the arranging and carrying out of the funeral and then include these on the funeral account which you will receive approximately one week after the funeral has taken place.

The account will include a due date, this is the date the account should be settled without prior arrangement. As all are net. compound interest of 2.5% per month will be charged on all over-due accounts.

Should you believe the funeral costs to be prohibitive we are able to offer a heavily discounted arrangement that attempts to coincide with the DWP contributions, while maintaining the dignity & respect we offer to all in an effort to assist at this difficult time. Please do not be afraid to ask for further information if you think it is what you would require.

As I understand that it often takes time to sort out finances. I don’t insist on payment immediately, although a deposit may be required and most accounts are settled within 30 days. Without prior arrangement accounts should be settled by the due date and should you be aware of any problems with finances, I would prefer you to discuss this with me to enable me to advise in any way possible.

If you are in receipt of certain benefits, you may be eligible for assistance with part if the funeral costs. To apply you should contact the DSS and ask for an application form for the social fund (SF 200).
